That’s a Wrap: Homework Club Ends on Growth, Hope & Gospel Seeds
As another school year comes to a close, we’re filled with gratitude for what God has done through Homework Club. What began as a weekly space for tutoring and study support has become something so much more — a safe, joy-filled community where under-resourced kids are growing academically, spiritually, and emotionally.
One of the most encouraging things we’ve seen this year is that our “regulars” are growing up — not just physically, but in their understanding of God’s Word. Kids who have come for years now answer Bible questions with confidence and talk about Jesus with real understanding.
“They know the answers to questions about the Bible, the Gospel, and Jesus. This excites us because we know that the Word does not return void — it’s been hidden in their hearts, and is transforming them.”
Growth Highlights of the Year
In addition to spiritual growth, we’re celebrating academic wins too. One of our amazing volunteers, Lisa, has helped several kids transition into better schools over the past two years — opening doors for them to reach their full potential.
This year also brought something new: girls at Homework Club! While the program has mostly served boys in the past, we were thrilled to welcome a small group of young girls this year. Teaching them the hope of the Gospel has been a huge blessing, and we’re excited to continue reaching more kids on the block — both familiar faces and new ones.
Each week this year, we walked through the Romans Road — a step-by-step look at salvation through Scripture. From understanding sin and grace to the gift of Jesus and what it means to live for Him, the kids were engaged in learning what faith looks like. As we wrap up the year, we’re focusing on life after salvation — helping them see that following Jesus is possible even as a young person.
“We’re ending the year talking about the Christian life — giving them tools to live with joy and purpose.”
Our numbers have remained steady, with over 20 students registered we see an average of 8–12 kids joining us each week, and we’re encouraged by the consistency and community that’s formed. We’re proud of each one of them — for showing up, for working hard, and for listening with open hearts.
As we head into summer, our prayer is that the connections built through Homework Club will continue. We’re inviting our kids to stay plugged in through church, summer camp, monthly community BBQ’s, basketball camp, and by simply stopping by to see Pastors John, Donny, and Ryan.
What Next? Will you pray with us!?!
That the seeds planted this year would grow strong
That kids stay connected and feel seen during the summer
For continued academic and spiritual breakthrough
For more volunteers like Lisa to walk alongside our youth
Homework Club may be on pause for now, but the mission continues. We're committed to cultivating growth, one week, one kid, and one Gospel truth at a time.
See you this summer — and don’t forget, camp is coming! 🌱
