Food Outreach

Tuesday 10am
44 E 23rd St, Chester

For over 5 years, Greenhouse Project has distributed well over 600,000 pounds of produce, meats & dry good foods to neighbors who can’t afford groceries, averaging a consistent 130,000+ lbs of food year-over-year!

Every Tuesday we show up with a food outreach that meets essential needs for neighbors facing food scarcity — all while building authentic, life-giving connections.

On major holidays like Thanksgiving and Easter, we put full holiday meals on the table for families in need. A thriving garden, sown into the community when we launched, also provides fresh produce and opportunities to learn about sustainably grown food.

God is using small things to do the big things, and we are here for it.

We’ve seen the incredible impact of our service with local partners like Small Things, a Philly-based food bank, since Thanksgiving 2020. Contributions from other community change-makers have helped grow our Food Outreach into a true lifeline for our neighbors.

Families who can’t afford fresh food are receiving nutrient-dense vegetables, fruits and meats to build not only physical health but mental and emotional wellness through consistent connection with our Greenhouse team.

Neighbors are known by name, prayed for, cared for in ways that impact the soul — it starts with food and grows into faith.

Sowing into individuals and families in need

Food insecurity is a real and daily reality for many of our neighbors. Job loss, low wages, fluctuating SNAP benefits, addiction cycles, and rising costs force families into impossible choices—food or medication, gas or groceries. These pressures don’t come and go; they compound, week after week.

We believe provision must go deeper than a bag of groceries. ”Bread alone” without the gospel is just another form of bondage. Our Food Outreach is intentionally different. It’s not a handout or a temporary fix; it’s a place where relationships flourish.

On average, we serve 150 families every week and minister to men rebuilding their lives in recovery, comfort caregivers struggling to make ends meet, and stand with those facing job loss, illness or mental health challenges.

When I came off the street, I had nothing. I was able to eat because of this outreach. Now, no matter what, I share my food with recovery house men who don’t have.
