From City to Campfire: Why This Summer Could Change Everything
Imagine thinking summer camp will be all rules, noise, and strict adults—basically school, just outdoors. That’s exactly what Chayse expected before heading to Inspire Sports Camp last summer with Greenhouse Project.
“Loud, rowdy, being bossed around… kinda like school,” he told us.
But what happened next changed everything.
“Oh my gosh!” Chayse beamed, unable to hold back a huge smile. “I can’t even explain it! Camp was really fun. The leaders are so caring and really supportive of people. There’s a lot of dance parties! There’s water, lots of swimming, and sports!”
Then we asked if it was cool to get out of the city. His face lit up again:
“YES, DEFINITELY! There are woods everywhere, we have space to walk around in lots of nature… it's just really fun. We did a lot of challenges and parkour, a ropes course, archery... the whole thing just fit my adventure vibe!”
This is what Greenhouse exists to do—create experiences that crack open new worlds for our kids.
Last year, 11 kids from Chester joined over 100 others from places like the Bronx, New Jersey, and Philly at Inspire Sports Camp. We were the first group they’ve ever hosted from Chester—and the kids? They made memories for a lifetime.
What Made Camp So Special?
For the kids, it wasn’t just the zip lining, kayaking, tubing down hills, or climbing walls (though that was epic). What stuck with them was how deeply they were seen and loved.
Their counselors played a key role, walking closely with each camper throughout the week—answering big questions about God, cheering them on, showing them what faith looks like lived out. One of the most meaningful moments came midweek during the gospel presentation, when hearts were tender and open. By Thursday, leaders looked around and saw kids reading their Bibles on their own. And on the final night of worship? The kids didn’t need a push—they worshipped freely, with joy.
“We saw kids ring the camp bell to mark a personal decision,” shared one leader. “We saw friendships form, eyes open, and hearts change.”
Some of the kids have now been to camp more than once, and they talk about it like it’s their second home. They're eager to reunite with counselors and friends, and there's a visible shift when they return. As one leader put it, “Camp becomes a reset—a moment to realign their hearts with Jesus in a place that feels safe and joy-filled. It ignites a spark that lasts beyond the summer.”
Why We Need Your Help
This June, we’re hoping to send 15 kids back to camp. And we need your help to make that happen.
We’re inviting you to help make this God-filled summer camp experience a reality again! It takes about $130 per camper, covering camp cost, van rental, gas and snacks.
Every dollar you give helps build core memories, deepen faith, and expand what’s possible in the mind of a young person from the city.
Any funds raised above and beyond will go straight to other meaningful summer programming at Greenhouse. This isn’t just about one week in June—it’s about a lifetime of transformation.
