Help Multiply Meals This Thanksgiving

In Chester, PA, food insecurity has always been a quiet crisis — but this November, it’s turning into an emergency.

Between Nov 1–15, SNAP (EBT) benefits are being cut off or paused nationwide, leaving millions of low-income Americans without their primary access to food. Here at Greenhouse Project, we’re already hearing from neighbors who are feeling the effects.

For many in our community, SNAP benefits are the bridge between barely getting by and not eating at all. When that bridge is gone, the questions become heartbreaking:

  • Do I buy food, or refill medication?

  • Do I fill the car with gas, or feed my kids?

  • Do I heat my home, or fill the fridge?

This is the reality for many of our Chester neighbors — families led by single mothers, elderly residents living alone, and men rebuilding their lives after addiction or incarceration.

The Ripple Effect

When SNAP benefits are paused, the ripple spreads fast. Food banks limit supply. Grocery prices stay high. Local ministries like ours see lines grow longer — while our own resources run thin.

As our weekly food outreach distributes hundreds of pounds of fresh food and dry goods from 44House, we watch relief flood the faces of neighbors who walk down the food line. We have small reserves of food goods, but in the weeks and months ahead, we expect them to be depleted as demand grows. There many also be reductions in food supply donations coming in from food bank partners.

That’s why we’re stepping in and asking for a miracle — before Thanksgiving becomes another casualty of crisis.

Tables Full of Hope

We’re raising $10,000 by November 25 to provide 200 Thanksgiving Food Boxes filled with fresh sides and a full turkey — enough to feed the most vulnerable families on our block and beyond.

Each $50 box is more than food. It’s a message that says: “You are seen. You are loved. You belong.”

When families receive their boxes, they’re not just handed groceries. They experience an atmosphere of ministry — they are prayed over, invited into safe community, and reminded that God still multiplies what’s given in faith.

The Miracle in Motion

In the gospel story of the feeding of the five thousand, Jesus performed a miracle that began with what little the disciples had — five loaves and two fish.

But notice what He said first to the disciples, “You give them something to eat.”

Jesus multiplied the food, but He did it through the disciples’ faith in action. This is an invitation for His followers to be part of the miracle. To trust that when we offer what we have — even if it feels small — God can multiply it to meet every need.

This Thanksgiving, this invitation feels more timely than ever.

You can be part of the miracle.

You can put food on the table for a family who’s lost hope this season.
